Manly Sailing Club sails through upgrade with the help of GHL temp fencing
When Manly Sailing Club needed to extend the outside storage area of its base, they called on GHL Temp Fence Hire to secure the construction site to keep sailors and the public safe.
The Sailing Club recognised the need to create a barrier between the extension during construction and the many public activities surrounding the area. The club is located on the beachfront between the public boat ramp, and Manly Park on the other side.Access to both these areas was needed for boaties to enter the water for their water sports and the hundreds of visitors utilising the park’s facilities every day.
The number one priority of temporary fencing is always safety
In this project, the Auckland temp fence team were able to secure the construction site with temporary fencing, whilst ensuring that the functionality of the boat ramp and public access to the beach were not compromised. The fence ensures visitors and the public do not enter the construction site during construction and when the site is vacant.
How a temp fence can overcome the dangers onsite
Uneven soft surface
On this site, the fence could only be erected on uneven soft grass, which can make a temp fence unstable. To ensure the fence doesn’t fall and become a safety hazard itself, GHL added stability by –
- Erecting extra bracing along regular sections of the fence
- Placing heavy concrete filled bases to the feet of each panel. The high visible yellow colour reduces tripping hazards for people walking past.
Easy access to the site
Installing opening and closing temporary gates creates easy access for construction workers and machinery making an efficient worksite.A chain and padlock can be included to lock the site, enabling materials and machinery to be stored without incident during vacant nights and weekends.
